Every experienced lender has encountered a credit request that wasn’t straightforward—one that required balancing risk, creativity, policy, relationships, and sound judgment. This session is designed to tap into the collective experience in the room.

Rather than listening to another presentation, we’ll crowdsource solutions to real lending scenarios brought by participants. Whether the challenge involves structure, collateral, guarantors, industry concerns, covenant design, workouts, policy exceptions, or simply a deal that “kept you up at night,” this is an opportunity to hear how other experienced credit professionals would approach the same situation.

The goal isn’t to determine a single correct answer. It’s to explore different ways seasoned lenders think through complex credit decisions, learn from one another’s experiences, and leave with practical ideas that can be applied back at your own institution.

How It Will Work

  • Bring a recent or memorable loan situation that presented a unique challenge.
  • Share only the facts necessary for discussion—please omit borrower names or any confidential information.
  • After a brief overview of the situation, the group will ask clarifying questions.
  • We’ll then open the floor for discussion:
    • How would you structure this?
    • What additional information would you want?
    • What risks concern you most?
    • Would you approve it? Why or why not?
    • What alternatives or mitigants would you consider?
