Erik Skovgard has spent 28 years in community banking.  Erik successfully led an organization that grew rapidly and was a pioneer in culture, innovation, and FinTech. He has weathered regulatory challenges and built a robust infrastructure in governance, risk management, Human Resources, and information security.

Erik is passionate about community banking and began Skovgard Consulting to share his years of experience with community banks. He taps into his experience to help clients define their core purpose, construct a winning strategy, improve strategic clarity and organizational health, and improve business SMARTs (Sales, Marketing, Accounting/operations, Risk management, and Technology/innovation.

Erik has vast experience scaling an organization from very small (Assets $70M, 4 locations, 20 employees, 1,500 customers) to significant scale ($1.8B, 1 9 locations, 425 employees, and 3 million customers).

During his tenure in community banking, he led one of the first banks to enter the Fintech BAAS space in 2014.  He also developed one of the largest community bank mortgage originators in Iowa.  Erik has also led Marketing, IT, bank sales (lending & retail branch network), insurance, wealth management, trust, Century 21 franchise, asset liability, TPRM, BSA, Audit, and treasury.  He served a key role in five bank acquisitions and opened five de novo locations, including four branches in the Des Moines Market, which grew over $500M in assets in less than ten years.  He also developed an award-winning government-guaranteed (SBA & USDA) lending division. He led the building of Risk, Operations, Data Warehouse, SalesForce, BSA, Compliance, Audit, IT, Information Security, TPRM, Legal, and HR.
