John Tranter has over 40 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry and has served as a passionate advocate for the industry through his role as Chairman of the Florida Bankers Association, one of the largest state banking associations in the country. His leadership roles with the Florida Bankers Association included serving on the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, Government Relations Committee, and eventually Chairman-Elect (2013) and Chairman (2014-15). Additionally, he served on the Board and as Chairman of BancServ, the FBA for-profit corporation (2010-2014). He also served on the Board, Executive Committee and eventually became Chairman (2011-2013) of the Independent Bankers Bank of Florida (2005-2014).
Prior to founding JETstream Capital, John was EVP & Chief Banking Officer of CenterState Bank, a $13 billion community bank with over 100 branches in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. While at CenterState, John was responsible for the leadership of all of the bank’s community presidents, as well as the bank’s commercial and retail banking divisions.
John began his career in the management training program at the First Bank & Trust of Palm Beach County, which later became part of Barnett Bank. He held various management and executive management positions with the bank through the merger with NationsBank 1998. John left NationsBank to become the founder and organizer of Gulfstream Business Bank, a de novo community bank that grew to over $650 million in assets in 10 years. As Vice Chairman and CEO of Gulfstream, he managed the de novo process, including the start-up capital of over $16 million. In addition to his strategic and leadership roles, he managed the eventual merger of the bank into CenterState Bank in 2014, assuming the role of Chief Banking Officer of the combined organization.
John holds a BSBA in banking and finance from the University of Florida, and he is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, the Graduate School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma, and the National School of Real Estate Finance at Ohio State University.
John has three grown children: Sarah, Jack and Oliver.
